Purple anyone?

Or should I say Radiant Orchid…

On December 5th, the color of the year was announced! This year it is enigmatic Purple, officially Radiant Orchid Pantone 18-3224.

We, at Michael Levine, have a broad range of beautiful purples as well as a few tips on how the new 2014 color can be used on the daily basis whether it is fashion, beauty or home decorating:

1) It complements olives and deep hunter greens, looks gorgeous when paired with turquoise, teal and light yellows:

2) With cool and warm undertones it suits many hair, eye and skin tones:

3) It pairs well with shades of lavender, purple, pink and metallics:

Glitzy Mini Sequins Four-way Stretch - ML214470 - Purple

4) It's great for accent pieces and accessories, lifting up gray, beige and taupe base colors without overpowering them.

A few words on how the color of the year is actually selected….
The color of the year is determined by the global color science and technology authority company called X-Rite of which Pantone, the color industry leader, is part of. The color selection is determined by influences coming from the entertainment industry, films, art collections, hot new artists, popular travel destinations, technology and even upcoming sports events that capture worldwide attention. While last year’s color Emerald served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, the Radiant Orchid stands for confidence, joy, love and health. Let's hope the new year will bring just that :-)
